(Global Organic Textile Standards)

With this certification, we show the use of natural fibers from organic agriculture, with the aim of guaranteeing the consumer that the products are obtained in compliance with stringent environmental and social criteria applied at all levels of production up to the labeling of the finished product.

(Organic Blended Content Standard)

For our yarns, this standard certifies the presence, between 5% and 100%, of natural fibers from organic agriculture and guarantees their traceability along the entire production chain.

Higg Index Self Assessment

Higg Index measures environmental and social sustainability practices within the Company. This way every activity is always monitored and improvements tracked.

(Better Cotton Initiative)

We joined BCI in 2020 to strengthen our commitment to sustainable cotton production along the entire textile production chain.

(Global Recycled Standard)

Certification that promotes responsible and sustainable development in the textile industry, enhances the importance of recycling textile waste and promotes the reduction of resource consumption, guarantees the traceability of recycled materials and the quantity present in the product.

Chemical Management 4sustainability®

The company applies the 4sustainability® Chemical Management Protocol to eliminate toxic substances from production processes through the MRSL ZDHC.

EcoVero certifies the origin of products from green sources, through an eco-responsible production process that respects high environmental standards.

(Responsible Wool Standard)

RWS certifies the use of responsible wool from farms that meet animal welfare and sustainable land management requirements.

(Consorzio Italiano Implementazione Detox)

The objective of the Consorzio, which we have joined in 2016, is to embark on a path towards the elimination of toxic substances, for man and the environment, from the fashion chain.

The Lyocell fiber of Tencel is produced with environmentally friendly processes starting from the wood used which comes from sustainable sources. Performance in terms of softness and wearability characterize this cellulosic fiber.

(Forest Stewardship Council)

The FSC brand identifies products containing wood and its derivatives, such as in our case the cellulose used for the production of viscose, coming from forests managed in a correct and responsible manner according to rigorous environmental, social and economic standards.

Antibacterial Treatment

On the yarns indicated with this mark, upon request, a treatment can be applied for a valid barrier against the proliferation of bacteria. In line with our attention to sustainability, we use a product approved by Oeko-Tex®, the garments that can be made with the treated yarns are wearable in contact with the skin, it is an APEO Free product and is over 70% Biodegradable. Its antibacterial efficacy is maintained even after numerous washes.

Sustainable in every production phase

At Lanificio dell’Olivo, our entire internal production process is focused on Sustainability. Our efforts and results prove our constant commitment to respecting the environment, health of workers and consumers and the ethical treatment of animals through quality products and processes.

Our vision translates into focus on to long-term investments and the use of green energies, to respond to expectations for the future of the planet and all living in it.

Concrete actions for a sustainable development

The care we put into creating our products is the same that guides us in carrying out actions to protect the environment and people. For this reason, years ago and among the first in the yarns industry, we developed the program GOING GREEN for Sustainable Fashion.

Going Green covers all the key areas of sustainability: Social Responsibility, Chemical Risk Management, Traceability, Environmental Sustainability and is based on concrete actions, such as the commitment to reduce the presence of harmful chemicals in fabrics and garments.

Social Responsibility

We are part of the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) of 4sustainability® and our management actions are based on ethical, social and environmental assessments.

For this reason, we have an Ethical Code, and every year, we draw up our Sustainability Report and fill in the HIGG INDEX, the tool that evaluates the sustainable practices conducted by the company in the social and environmental field developed by the SAC (Sustainable Apparel Coalition).

Chemical Risk Management

Lanificio dell’Olivo applies the 4sustainability® Chemical Management Protocol for the elimination of toxic and harmful substances from the production processes through the MRSL (Manufacturing Restricted Substance List) of ZDHC.

The raw materials and our supply and production chains are controlled with stringent parameters from a chemical point of view. We constantly check the conformity of the products to our PRSL (Product Restricted Substance List) and we respect the requirements of fashion brands and the most demanding international regulations.

In 2016 we were among the first yarn producers to sign the DETOX agreement, a program promoted by GREENPEACE aimed at eliminating toxic and harmful substances for humans and the environment from production processes. Today we are part of CID, Consorzio Italiano Implementazione Detox.

Our production processes are fully tracked from the entry of raw materials to the sale of the final product, to offer complete transparency and support the customer in requests for information.
This allows us to guarantee the conformity of our yarns to the most demanding requirements of international regulations and to our customers’ personalized specifications. For most of our collections, we also guarantee compliance with the Chinese regulation GB18401.

Over the years we have achieved various product certifications such as:
GOTS for the use of organic cotton and linen
OCS use of organic cotton
GRS use of recycled polyester, cotton and polyamide
RWS use of responsible wool

Environmental Sustainability

Knowing that the textile industry uses an important amount of energy, Lanificio dell’Olivo aims to optimize and use resources efficiently, minimizing waste, impact on the environment and recycling all possible materials.

20% of the energy used in our production cycles is obtained from green sources and 97% of the water we consume in production comes from purification plants and is subsequently recycled and used in other processes.

Sustainability Report

Employees, customers, suppliers, territory, environment and community are the subjects with which we interact every day and for which we aim for sustainable development. We feel strong responsibility towards them. For this reason, every year we publish our Sustainability Report.
